North Loop is the district directly north of Hyde Park, centered on the short commercial run of North Loop Boulevard between Lamar and Guadalupe. The boulevard has a cluster of vintage and record shops, a few bars and coffee places, and food in the old strip buildings; it is the kind of block that gets called a neighborhood’s living room, and the description fits.

The rest of the area is post-war houses on straight streets, smaller and cheaper than Hyde Park’s, which is why it has drawn younger residents and the businesses that follow them. Koenig Lane and Lamar Boulevard carry the traffic on the north and west edges.

Our radius is about 1 km from the boulevard. Places on the south edge may be counted under Hyde Park, and the far east toward Airport Boulevard drifts toward Mueller.
