South Congress is the stretch of Congress Avenue that starts at the south end of the Congress Avenue Bridge and runs south with the Capitol at its back. Most people call it SoCo. Bouldin Creek sits to the west, Travis Heights to the east, and the two neighborhoods share the avenue as their main street.

The avenue itself is where the foot traffic is: a long run of storefronts, food trailers on the side lots, and a steady line of people walking between them on weekends. One block off in either direction it turns residential fast, with bungalows and small apartment buildings on quiet streets.
